Author Interview: Tracy Kaufmann

About the Author:

Tracy Kauffman is a Christian fiction author of Young Adult and Children Stories. She grew up in North Alabama, where she still resides with her husband and daughter. She loves taking cruises and traveling with her family. Her favorite place that she has been to is the Grand Canyon.


Tracy has an associates degree in Nursing. She is a registered nurse and works part time in a local nursing home. The rest of the time she spends her time writing books and marketing them. Her titles include: Gwendolyn’s Wish, Southern Adventures, Richard the Lionheart, My Boyfriend the Squire and Captain Honey Bear Saves Goldie Locks.

Tracy started writing poetry at a small age and won the title of editor in her school newspaper, when she was in second grade. She had her first poem published in a online writing contest called, The Cosmetology Student. She decided to write her first book, Southern Adventures, when her son left home for the Air Force.

She loves writing and hopes to be able to inspire her readers into living a happy healthier life. She feels like her own life experiences have made her a better writer. Learn more about her by visiting her website or blog.

Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?

I am a fly by the seat of my pants type of author. I might think of things throughout the day that I will eventually add to it, but I like to sit down and just write.


Do your characters ever want to take over the story?

Of course but I try to keep control of them. They can't seem to stay out of trouble.

What is your favourite food?

I love lasagna but now trying to eat low carb foods to lose weight.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I am a night owl. I can stay up all hours of the night and have to make myself go to bed.

Where do you dream of travelling to and why?

I would love to go to Europe. Anywhere in Europe that has castles.

Do distant places feature in your books?

My Boyfriend the Squire is set in Carcassonnee France in 1200 Ad and the present day.

Do you listen to music while writing?

No, I like it quiet.

Could you tell us a bit about your latest release?


My Boyfriend the Squire is a young adult fiction book with a romantic tale. Lucinda is the main character. She is on her way to Italy to see her brother in the military when she is transported back in time to the Middle Ages. There she meets a squire who helps her find out why she is there. After freeing the spell of the king on the princes and countess, she travels back to the present day and meets her brother's friend who is the spitting image of the squire.

What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?

Quite a bit. I didn't know anything about publishing or marketing but I believe I have really learned a lot about how to publish my books. Writing comes easier for me the more I do it. I believe if you are truly an author, writing will come easy for you.

Is there anything you would do differently?

Studied up on the publishing business more, but I guess you have to learn the hard way sometimes.

Who, or what, if anything has influenced your writing?

From an early age, I have wrote in some form or fashion. So I would say my own life experiences, movies, books, other authors, and the list goes on.

What are three words that describe you?

A trustworthy, motivated, dedicated

What's your favourite book or who is your favourite writer?

African Ice by Jeff Buick. Loved reading about adventures in the African Desert.
